I’m so enjoying following you on Substack, which I am still figuring out and have no idea how it lead me to you. I am grateful, however, that I am here. Thank you for your wonderful book, Raise Your SQ. I felt like something was off or missing this year and ordered your book. It was exactly what I needed. So many helpful exercises and I finally took that conscious breath work class I’ve been meaning to take which was transformative - really. Just thought I would let you know you’re having an impact in the world on people far and wide 😁
I have a practical question: if you swim with goggles, have you found ones that don't make you look like you have very deep, dark circles under your eyes? I wish we had a pool with a sauna near us. It's the one thing that tempts me to move.
I'm glad you've found a good rhythm for you all. x
Great question. I have been very lazy with goggles and I actually swim without them, and with my eyes open under the water. My dad is an optician so I checked with him to make sure I wasn’t going to be doing any lasting damage and he said it should be okay. But I definitely do need to get some goggles. X
Ah. I definitely prefer swimming with them if I'm putting my head under water. I only swam for 15 mins at a hotel on Saturday and the impression of them stayed ALL DAY. It didn't look like a goggle mark, just exacerbated dark circles. :-(
Very inspiring. It can feel hard to listen to yourself when what you’re hearing doesn’t sound like the done or easy thing for everyone involved. Our eldest (14) isn’t in school at the moment for similar reasons. It’s been tough in some respects, but it’s also forced some clarity about other things as a result. A big takeaway, actually, from this post, is you do you. It doesn’t have to look like other people’s version of things for it to work for you or you as a couple ❤️
Thank you Nat. And yes, that’s exactly it: we have the right , as a family, to make different decisions to other families. That will serve our individual, as well as collective, needs. So many children are struggling at school, it's heartbreaking. But also empowering to hear of those (who want to, and can) removing their children from the system, even if it’s temporary. We can’t have a broken system breaking our children x
