Fascinating! I have a set of gorgeous Henry Holland bowls which I will never look at in the same way again. Such an inspiring story, thanks for sharing.
Exactly that! Once the dream is achieved, it's time to move to another one.
Your writing style reminds me of my favourite writer, an advertising copywriter Dave Trott. I recommend his books "One + One = Three", and "Predatory Thinking". I think you'd enjoy the content and the style.
Funny you should say that, because when I was reading back through my piece, it reminded me of the stories I used to read of Dave Trott's.... on a blog, I think. I was definitely inspired by him. But it's also quite an 'advertising copywriter' style (I used to be a copywriter). Telling a simple story with a big message; one line paragraphs. Though I don't think women write like this so often... Thank you for the comparison, because I love his writing x
Same! I'm also inspired by him. Love that crisp style combined with clever analogues and word play. Long sentences are for those who can't self-edit, I feel.
ooof, the bit about having a career dream come true and it not being what you hoped. I've had that happen twice, both dreams were unmitigated disasters of toxic environments. I think the phrase, be careful what you wish for, it just might come true is so very apt.
Excellent story. You're only one slogan away from a pivot!
