Funny you should say that… I went looking back through my Substack archive to see if I have done something on vision-boarding and realised I haven’t. A course is a great idea, thank you x
I always prefer courses which are self-paced (because it fits in better with work/kids etc) but has a live Facebook group element for support, sharing, questions etc. Would love to see what other participant's vision boards look like too and share my own.
It really resonated with me when you write about being embarrassed about running online courses, even though you love it. I'm currently a stay at home mom and also get embarrassed. When people ask what I do for work, I tell them I'm staying home with the baby, but also add something about what I did for work inthe past or talk about how I'm starting to think about my next opportunity (which is very far on the horizon). I love what I do, I don't know why I do this!
I love that you have drawn this comparison. I think that sometimes we can feel intuitively, in our body, how much enjoyment we get from something, but when we flip the lens and try to see ourselves through other people’s eyes, we decide that it’s somehow not what we want or ‘enough’ or what we should be doing. And yet people are drawn to our energy, and by chemistry, rather than ‘what we do’. Xx
Thank you, Annie! This was a great read. I'm mama to a 3 year old & trying to figure out how to generate income after being out of the game for a minute...it's somewhat overwhelming but encouraging to read your words here & in your freelance mum book x
Something different. I worked in food education and local food systems before - all wonderful work but I'm ready for something new. I worked with kids, and people close to me keep telling me I should do more of that but I since I'm with my daughter all day I'm like no I need something adult focused! X
Absolutely brilliant and you have got me down a rabbit hole of your work, website and everything. Literally showing me how to do it. Really do love your newsletter. Thank you
Thank you for this post Annie. As someone who is in a period of transition with work - in particular trying to integrate all the different 'parts' of what I do - this really resonated. I purchased one of your courses back in the day (how to set up an online course) and it was really helpful! x
Like you, I often try to link my work and/or simplify… but for some of us, having disparate ‘hyphens’ can feel quite fun, too. Do you see how all your work connects? X
I write and run a business teaching creative writing which we put online in the pandemic and it grew far bigger than we ever planned it too but I always struggle to have more time to write. Having said that I do love the interaction of teaching so I feel it’s kind of a perfect combo. Thanks for this piece. Got me thinking 🤔
That’s so cool that your business grew so well in the pandemic. And that it’s very closely linked to your ‘art’. I think teaching can bring a lot of creative inspiration is, as well as out, but time is often the challenge x
I am free from trying to earn a living from my creative work (singing, songwriting, poetry) but now I’m barely doing any of it. Def because I have two young kids but also maybe because my job as a coach is creative 🤔
You should do a vision board course!

Would love that, I'd definitely do it.
Would you be more interested in self-paced, or a course with a live element, or some kind of interaction? X

music to my ears. I love this too. thank you xxx
Yes! I’m trying to do one at the minute and am struggling!

So nicely said! Thank you for eloquently putting the words to the feeling! Xo
In this day and age when we can self publish and sell our art online, it really does help to have some entrepreneurial skills.
So fantastic that we can learn and teach it all online too.
I’ve always found running a business to be a very creative experience too! 😃👏👏
Yes, teaching can feel so fulfilling and inspiring x
Thanks for sharing, Annie. Your short and clear writing style is my inspiration.
Thank you xx

Hey Sammi. Are you thinking of returning to similar work as pre-kids, or something different? Xx

Do you miss the singing/songwriting/poetry? X
Yes! More than ever right now. I did write poetry today 🙌🏻♥️
