Take a spiritual approach to growing your Substack in 2024
Stop panicking about not having enough subscribers or people paying to read your words and do this instead.
Towards the end of last year, I was seeing a lot of articles floating about from writers who were new to Substack and wondered why they weren’t seeing faster growth.
I get it, because we all start at the beginning. I’ve been there many times.
Though Substack was one of the few platforms I had a head-start on, as I’d already grown a mailing list of a few thousand.
But this is where people have been getting frustrated: some people are bringing their lists over and I don’t have one, it doesn’t feel fair.
Stop.
When we draw comparisons about what feels fair and what doesn’t, we block ourselves from moving forward.
For every thought about regret, frustration, envy - this could be replaced with one of hope, excitement, optimism.
It’s not always as easy as flipping straight from frustration to elation but over time, once you can see these thought process forming, you can challenge them.
In terms of Substack, you might think:
What’s the point in me even bothering, I have 10 subscribers and everyone else has thousands.
Or you can think…
Everyone else seems to have loads of subscribers. I want that too. If they can do it, so can I. And 10 is a great start.
And you can. But only if you make a conscious effort to wade as quickly as you can through all that comparison and pessimism to get to the bank of optimism.
So here’s my idea: let’s leave the panic and moaning behind in 2023 and instead, focus on what we want in 2024.
I can help you…
