Stop hiding. I can see you
It's time to step out of the shadows and into the light and to fart loudly in the face of anyone who tells us we shouldn't be so visible. Also, don't slam other women when they step onto the stage.
It’s 2016, I have a toddler at home with me and I’m running a growing digital magazine, The Early Hour.
I publish articles daily at 5am and share them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
It’s all scheduled in advance.
Often, I’m interviewing a creative about their work and morning routine. Two of my main interests.
And when I share the interviews - particularly on Instagram - people read the piece and then share it themselves.
Thousands of people are flocking to The Early Hour and while it’s mostly about the content, some people are interested in me, as the founder.
I’m invited to speak on panels and podcasts; I’m interviewed for blogs. National newspapers start commissioning me to write for them.
So it’s all going well and I’m feeling pretty hyped about having created this digital magazine that is growing and occasionally, bringing in some money.
And then I meet this woman and she tells me something that feels like a dagger in my balloon. Like she wants me to fall, hard and fast.
