Slump.
Why the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve is all about rest, over-indulgence and doing whatever-the-f*ck you want.
I love Christmas but I do find the ‘planning’ aspect somewhat overwhelming.
Not only do you have to decide - often quite early in the year - who you’ll spend the Big Day with but then you have to think about Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, NYE.
There might be different family members and friends you’d like to see, so there’s coordination there: are they coming to you, or you to them?
Beds might need changing, homes have to be cleaned, food bought and prepared.
I now do a good job of handing a big bulk of it over to my husband. I still have to do the thinking and planning but I let him take on much of the practical side.
But there’s one part of the Christmas period that I’m doing differently this year.
And that’s ‘Betwixmas’ or ‘Twixmas’ or whatever else you call this fallow week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
