Be patient.

This has been my unofficial mantra for the year. Here's how I've learned, at last, to practise my patience...

My mum has often said to me, throughout my life, that I should work with children, because I am so patient with them.

Hold on, let me reverse.

She used to say that to me before I had my own children. I actually can’t remember her saying it since.

She does say kind things about what I’m like as a mother but the patience piece has taken a back seat.

Perhaps that’s because being with children 24/7, when they are your own, is different to babysitting other people’s, which is what I spent a lot of time doing in my teens.

But while I have the potential to be patient with children, I’m less patient about situations.
